Kids' Day Destinations - Long Island, NY | Coach Realtors

From amusement parks to nature preserves, there are many options for kid-centered outings on Long Island. If you’d like to take your kids on a fun excursion in the next few weeks, our REALTORS® recommend checking out the following places.

  • The Adventure Park – 75 Colonial Springs Road, Wheatley Heights, NY 11798
Kids who love exploring and climbing will get their fill of both activities at The Adventure Park, a unique playground that sets guests loose in a network of 14 treetop trails. Each of these trails is made up of tree branches connected by solidly-built rope bridges. Over 200 interactive challenges and nearly 50 ziplines are scattered throughout these structures, giving your kids something new to find and experience around every corner. Kids must be at least 7 years old to use the adult trails, but younger kids can still enjoy the miniature trails at the park’s Adventure Playground.
  • Adventureland – 2245 Broad Hollow Road, Farmingdale, NY 11735
What kid wouldn’t love spending the day at an amusement park? If you can’t make it to Coney Island, Adventureland is the next best thing. This park boasts more than 30 rides, including standard fare like bumper cars and a merry-go-round, as well as thrill rides like the Turbulence coaster and the swinging Frisbee. If the heat gets too intense, your kids can hop on one of the park’s many water rides to cool off while having a great time.
  • Long Island Game Farm – 489 Chapman Blvd., Manorville, NY 11949
Young animal lovers will be thrilled to visit the Long Island Game Farm, a children’s zoo that aims to teach kids about local and foreign wildlife. In addition to barnyard favorites like goats, rabbits, donkeys, and alpacas, the zoo also hosts several rescued exotic animals that have been rehabilitated and are now being kept for conservation purposes. Their current roster includes lemurs, giraffes, emu, and an African serval cat named Nala. If you time your visit right, your kids can even attend one of the zoo’s special encounters. These events let guests meet with animals like tortoises and wallabies and even attempt to feed them. Check out the schedule on the zoo’s website to see when your child’s favorite animal is available!
  • Tiki Action Park – 1878 Middle Country Road, Centereach, NY 11720
Do your kids love interactive, competitive play? Tiki Action Park has a ton of activities for them to enjoy. The park has been voted the best place for miniature golf on Long Island by the Bethpage Federal Credit Union for many years running, and it’s easy to see why. Its 18-hole course incorporates caves, streams, and even a goldfish pond and massive decorative fountain. Those looking for a thrill can race around the park’s incredible go-kart track. Indoors, you’ll find the park’s arcade packed with 45 games and a prize counter. You can even get your kids a treat from the on-site ice cream shop and snack bar.
  • Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve – 25 Lloyd Harbor Road, Lloyd Harbor, NY 11743
If your kids love the outdoors, consider taking them for a weekend trip to Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve. The preserve offers a unique mix of marshland, shoreline, and open meadows, making it an exciting place to explore on foot or by bike. You can also go fishing and birdwatching on the preserve’s extensive acreage. There’s even a polo pony barn where your kids can meet the ponies and take a riding lesson. Finish the day with a valuable learning experience at the Nassau BOSCES Outdoor and Environmental Education Program, and you’ll have the perfect summer outing.
