Listen to this articleTanger Outlets Riverhead is hosting a special fundraising event to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The free event, called TangerPINK Sip and Shop, takes place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 in the shopping complex at 200 Tanger Mall Drive in Riverhead.
The event will feature live music, local wine tasting, crafts and more while raising money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Shoppers will be encouraged to donate a minimum of $10 to receive a special voucher with curated offers from more than 30 retailers, including Coach, Crocs, Columbia, J.Crew, Kate Spade and more, according to a Tanger statement.
All donations made through Tanger’s online donation campaign directly benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the largest private funder of breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer research in the world, according to the statement.
The annual TangerPink campaign has raised over $18.9 million since 1994 in support of breast cancer efforts. Through its partnership with BCRF, Tanger has funded over 92,000 hours of breast cancer research since 2011. Besides attending the Sip and Shop event, people who donate online at tanger.com/pink through Oct. 31 can get special shopping deals.
