Lessing’s Hospitality Group has acquired the former headquarters of the Suffolk County Water Authority in Great River.
Lessing’s purchased the 13,280-square-foot office building on 2 acres at 3525 Sunrise Highway for $2.5 million.
The company plans on investing another $1.1 million on renovations to the property and establish it as its new headquarters, according to Town of Islip Industrial Development Agency documents. Lessing’s received economic incentives from the Islip IDA for the project, including a 10-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement, which the company said will enable it to retain 34 jobs and add 37 more.
The hospitality firm will be relocating from its current offices nearby at 3500 Sunrise Highway.
Founded in 1890, Lessing’s is a sixth-generation, family-owned business with 120 locations in the Northeast and Florida, including wedding and catering venues, full-service restaurants, pop-up kitchen concepts, corporate and academic dining centers, a historic inn and a presidential yacht.
Dan Abbondandolo, Victor Little, Robert Kuppersmith and Jennifer Grgas of Cushman & Wakefield represented the buyer, while the seller, Suffolk County Water Authority, was self-represented in the sales transaction.
“The acquisition marks a significant milestone for Lessing’s Hospitality Group, a leader in the industry with a legacy of over 130 years providing remarkable hospitality, innovation and excellence,” Abbondandolo said. “The company plans to reimagine the property as its new headquarters, leveraging its prime location with immediate access to Sunrise Highway and Connetquot Avenue to create a central hub for future operations.”
