Phil Boyle, the president and CEO of Suffolk Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation and Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel, has been named the next chairman of the New York Gaming Association (NYGA).

The NYGA is a trade organization that advocates for and advances the interests of its members at racing and gaming venues throughout the state. The association works in partnership with state government on long-term strategies to increase revenues for education, supporting racing, breeding and gaming industries and generate new jobs.

“Phil’s proven leadership abilities, exceptional communication skills, and extensive governmental and policy experience will help our industry prosper and deliver even greater benefits for students and taxpayers throughout New York,” NYGA President and Executive Director Michael Kane said in a written statement.

NYGA’s members include gaming and racing facilities from Long Island to western New York, collectively producing economic impact of $3.4 billion in 2024 while generating $1.06 billion for education and significant additional revenue for state and local governments as well as supporting breeders, family farmers and small businesses, according to the statement.

Boyle took the helm of Suffolk OTB and Jake’s in Jan. 2022 and has been overseeing the Islandia casino’s $210 million expansion and renovation project. Prior to that, Boyle served as a New York State senator for 10 years.

“It is an honor to lead an association that exemplifies good corporate citizenship,” Boyle said in the statement. “From its inception, our industry has been an economic engine for our schools, our state, and our communities. The members of NYGA will continue to use their expertise to support the industry through a statewide perspective.”

NYGA members directly employ more than 5,000 workers with an annual payroll of more than $260 million and support 22,000 indirect additional jobs, according to the statement. More than $14.2 billion has been generated by NYGA members for state education since video lottery terminals were first authorized by the state in 2004.

NYGA’s member facilities include Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel, Batavia Downs Gaming, Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts, Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, Hamburg Gaming at Buffalo Raceway, Resorts World Casino Hudson Valley, Resorts World Casino New York City and Saratoga Casino Hotel.
