The recent Mount Sinai South Nassau “Soirée Under the Stars” gala at The Lannin in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow grossed $1.1 million, with net proceeds of $900,000. More than 400 guests – civic leaders, elected officials, hospital supporters and employees – attended to support healthcare on Long Island’s South Shore.

Bethpage Federal Credit Union’s President and Chief Executive Officer Linda Armyn headlined the November event as the corporate honoree. Lung cancer specialist Dr. Shahriyour Andaz, the hospital’s director of thoracic oncology, and Shaeda Alloo, a veteran respiratory therapist who served during the COVID-19 pandemic, were presented with the hospital’s Mary Pearson and Cupola awards, respectively.

“We appreciate the generosity of our friends who came out to show their support for the hospital,” Dr. Adhi Sharma, the hospital’s president, said in a news release about the gala.  “Raising money is important, but so is the feeling of community that was evident in the room that night as well as having the opportunity to recognize Linda Armyn and two of our great clinical leaders.”

Funds raised by the gala will be directed to continue to advance Mount Sinai South Nassau’s cancer care services. In addition to the full range of cancer care and support at Mount Sinai South Nassau, the hospital also offers outpatient services at the Gertrude & Louis Feil Cancer Center in Valley Stream, which treats more than 2,500 patients each year.

Major sponsors included Bethpage Federal Credit Union, the Mount Sinai Health System, Shahriyour Andaz, MD/Long Island Thoracic Surgery, PC, Terri and Steve Gold, Feil Family Foundation, Flagstar Bank Mount Sinai South Nassau Medical Staff, North American Partners in Anesthesia, LLP, The Central Orthopedic Group, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, ATM Consultants, B2K Development, Concierge Choice Physicians, Christine and Henry Haunss, Long Beach Nursing and Rehabilitation, Parking Systems, Las Vegas Sands, SD Medical Arts and The Harvey and Ellen Weisenberg Special Needs Foundation.
