Elected officials, business and civic leaders are expected to join ownership for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration Sunday for the recently renovated Holiday Inn hotel in Plainview.

The 127-room hotel on 3.71 acres at 215 Sunnyside Blvd. was acquired for $21 million in August 2024 by Sunlit Hospitality LLC, an affiliate of Laurel Hollow-based J Group Corp. The seller, Hangtian Capital Group, had acquired the property for $18.03 million in July 2015, according to public records.

J Group, headed by Shudh Parkash Singh and Sartaj Singh, owns a variety of commercial real estate assets, including the Kundan Mall shopping center on Bethpage Road in Hicksville, which is anchored by Apna Bazaar, the area’s largest Indian supermarket.

The new owners of the Holiday Inn Plainview invested in extensive renovations to the property, including upgrading rooms, restaurant and meeting spaces. The hotel features the Bistro 495 restaurant, a sports bar, a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, cocktail rooms, and a banquet hall. It has eight meeting rooms totaling 6,572 square feet that can accommodate up to 250 guests for business conferences and other events.

The grand re-opening event runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, with a ribbon-cutting at 4 p.m. The event will include food and wine tastings, hors d’oeuvres, open bar, live music and other festivities.
