Tritec Real Estate will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its 418-unit Shoregate development in Bay Shore later this month.

The event, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, takes place at the transit-oriented development at 143 4th Ave., located a block from the Bay Shore Long Island Rail Road station.

The project, designed by Melville-based BHC Architects, was built on the 10.34-acre former site of Touro College. The building welcomed its first residents in November. Roto, a sandwich shop and café, recently leased a 1,650-square-foot space as Shoregate’s only commercial tenant.

The Shoregate development is being honored by LIBN’s Real Estate, Architecture and Engineering Awards as the Top Transit-Oriented Development.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by an event at 4:30 p.m. called “Bay Shore Bites and Brews,” which will showcase local restaurants and breweries. The lineup includes Butera’s, Coastal Kitchen and Daiquiri Bar, Goldy’s Gems, Goody Two Shoes/The Linwood, Pecado, Roto, Tap Room, Tula Kitchen, Tullulah’s, The Pizzeria, Great South Bay Brewery and Take Two Brewery.

Tickets to the tasting event are $25 with all proceeds benefiting Long Island Cares.
